Defense of Counterclaims Against Landlords

Landlords who bring claims against Tenants for eviction and unpaid rent, are often met with counterclaims that housing conditions were substandard. Many times an eviction notice results in a tenant's call to the board of health or inspectional services. The defense of these claims -- breach of warranty of habitability, interference with quiet enjoyment, and intrusion/violation of right of privacy -- requires experience and know-how. I have experience handling and trying these claims to juries in Housing Court, as well as advocacy before judges and mediators, and in advising landlords and their insurers.
